WELCOME!
The twofold mission of the Veterans Medical Leadership Council:
(1) mobilize community leaders to advocate on behalf of military veterans living in the Valley, and
(2) raise and distribute funds that enhance the health and welfare of veterans in Maricopa County.
The Veterans Medical Leadership Council (VMLC) consists of wartime-era veterans who are leaders in business, communications, and government in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. We began in April 1999, primarily to speak out for veterans' concerns. Soon we formed a 501(c)(19) tax-exempt veterans advocacy organization. As veterans' resource needs became a higher priority for us, we added a traditional 501(c)(3), which equips us to accommodate the expectations of donors.
The council's logo is a torch with five stars floating above it, signifying the quest for eternal freedom and honoring those who have fought for this freedom. Each star represents a branch of the US Armed Forces - Arny, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Air Force - which comprise our veteran population.
The VMLC supports the Veterans Day Parade in Phoenix. This event honors thousands of veterans and gives hundreds of thousands of participants a chance to show their support for our men and women who have served our country.

The VMLC also funds a variety of health and welfare needs not provided by the federal or state governments. While both the US Veterans Affairs and the Arizona Veterans' Services both offer valuable and fundamental help to veterans, there are just some things that don't get funded by government. We find those needs, and do what we can to meet them.
Each year in November, just prior to the Veterans' Day Parade, we host our annual fundraiser - the "Heroes One and All" Luncheon. This magnificent and moving event, which has now grown to over 500 attendees, not only raises public awareness about veteran issues but also brings in much needed funds for the parade and veterans' unfunded medical and welfare needs.
Another way to be involved: consider volunteering some of your time at the Phoenix VA Hospital or the Arizona State Veterans' Home. For details, contact Voluntary Services: 602-222-6419. They can always use your help, and it makes a real difference to a vet!
